The Oakboro Town Council approved Tuesday night a resolution to administer a $2.5 million grant from the state’s Department of Commerce for the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry project.

Mayor Joyce Little read the resolution before its adoption was unanimously by the town council.

The grant is from the Industrial Development Fund Utility account which will pay for the infrastructure extension for the new foundry, namely water and sewer.

Oakboro’s finance department will administer the grant, which will be monitored quarterly to assure compliance with the resolution and Department of Commerce regulations.
