I no longer live inside the city limits of Albemarle since moving in 2019; however, I did for over 65 years and paid taxes for over 50 years, so I’m voicing my concerns and complaints here, though I doubt it will be published.
The streets of Albemarle are the absolute worse than anywhere I have traveled. I have done a little research and if a municipality is aware of a pothole, manholes, broken pavement, etc., that could or does cause an accident or cause damage to an automobile and the city does nothing to repair nor has barriers or cones or some type warning sign, then the municipality can be sued for damages.
Though I am sure city management are aware of the following, I am formally informing them now:
- Hole in the pavement between old hotel and time clock heading north.
- North First Street;
- Montgomery Avenue;
- Manholes at N.C. Highway 24-27/U.S. 52 Bypass, U.S. 52 from Salisbury Avenue to Burger King, West Main, Concord Road, Carolina Avenue, Efird Street, Broom Street, Coble Avenue, Old Charlotte Road, Pee Dee Avenue, East Main Street, Groves Street, Badin Road, Ridge Street — all need repairs for potholes, uneven pavement cracks and many more.
