Attorney Mark T. Lowder was honored recently with a Certificate of Appreciation for his 15 years of service and volunteering with Stanly Community College’s Carolina Auction Academy.

“Mr. Lowder has helped students understand what is involved in contracts, selling firearms at auction, and how to determine the ‘legal owner,’ who can actually sign your contract,” said Betty O’Neal, CAA
instructor. “Since 2006, Mr. Lowder has been volunteering his time and talent to speak with the students. His vast knowledge and understanding of the law is greatly appreciated. In addition to being an attorney, Mr. Lowder is also a licensed auctioneer and enjoys and understands the profession.”

SCC Vice President of Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer Jeff Parsons presented the award to Lowder on behalf of Carolina Auction Academy.

Carolina Auction Academy, School of Auctioneering, has been training auctioneers across the region since August 2005. Located at the Crutchfield Education Center in Locust, CAA offers a 96-hour program designed to prepare participants to pass the state exam, obtain a license and have the tools necessary to enter the business world as an auctioneer.

The North Carolina Auctioneer Licensing Board and the South Carolina Auctioneer Commission accredit Carolina Auction Academy, School of Auctioneering, and CAA is endorsed by the National Auctioneer Association, and the Auctioneer’s Association of North Carolina.

CAA offers instructors that include international champions and champions from both North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as technology specialists, auctioneers, real-estate brokers, lawyers and
special topic guests from around the Southeast.

The next Carolina Auction Academy course will begin on Sept. 9. Classes will meet on Monday and Thursday evenings at 5:30 p.m. for 10 weeks. For more information, visit www.stanly.edu or call Eagle’s One-Stop at (704) 991-0123.
