Man recovering after being shot in chest, arm in Albemarle

Albemarle Police detectives are investigating a Sunday night shooting.

Officers responded shortly after 6 p.m. to the area of North Sixth Street and Montgomery Avenue in reference to shots being fired. Witnesses in the area said they saw a blue passenger vehicle leave the area at the time of the incident, police said. Officers were able to locate a blue vehicle on North Sixth Street that had been shot many times.

Atrium Stanly later notified officers of a gunshot wound victim that was at the hospital.

Detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The victim, a 23-year-old male, had suffered shots to the chest and the arm. The victim was later transported to Atrium Main for further treatment.

The victim has been released from the hospital and detectives are still following up on leads.
