Stanly County Schools recently surveyed families on which type of graduation ceremony they would prefer based on capacity limitations outlined in Executive Order No. 204, and other COVID-19 restrictions.
The results of the survey are as follows: 64 percent voted for Option 1, which has graduation conducted on the school’s athletic field; 25.4 percent voted for Option 3, which includes a Senior Ceremony and a drive-through graduation; and 10.5 percent voted for Option 2, which was a drive-through graduation only.
With the majority of respondents voting to have graduation on their school’s athletic field, Stanly County Schools will conduct formal graduation ceremonies in the athletic stadiums of each high school. Graduation ceremonies for choice schools will be scheduled at different times.
For the four high schools (Albemarle, North Stanly, South Stanly and West Stanly), graduation ceremonies will be at 7 p.m. May 28. The rain date for this event will be 9 a.m. May 29.
More information will be forthcoming from each individual school on the number of tickets available, graduation practices and other logistical concerns.
