BADIN/PALESTINE NEWS: Park ranger to lead geology hike at Morrow Mountain

Join the ranger-led geology hike from 2-3 p.m. Saturday on the easy (0.6 mi.) Laurel Trail to learn the ancient geology and history of the area. Meet in the museum parking lot and wear masks. Reserve a spot by email: alden.early@ncparks.gov.

Jo Grey

The park’s hours for day visits will be 7 a.m.-10 p.m. May 1 through September.

Limb and Brush

Badin Public Works will pick up limbs and brush May 4. Please observe guidelines for placement as described at www.badin.org.

Badin Elementary

All orders and payments for the PTO’s fundraiser are due May 6. Purchased cases of varieties of bottled drinks, from Cheerwine to Blue Mist Water, will be delivered May 20 in the parking lot across from ALCOA.

Better Badin, Inc.

The regular meeting is May 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Loafers and Legends on Falls Road. Newcomers are invited to visit and get involved in making Badin better.

Town Council

The Council will hold its regular meeting May 11 at 7 p.m. in the Badin Conference Center. Please wear masks.

Historic Museum

Everyone is invited to a drop-in Open House 2-5 p.m. May 23 at the museum. The event will honor David Summerlin, founder, longtime Museum Board member, and Badin’s foremost historian, as well as other volunteers. New exhibits and additions to various collections give more insight into Badin’s story.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist is open for 10 a.m. Sunday worship each week. The church is at 500 Sherman St.

Badin Library

Current library hours are 2-6 p.m. Monday and Thursday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday. Check with Branch Manager Treva Allmon about a possible adult craft session for May at 704-422-3218.
