HARRISTOWN NEWS: New Hope plans ordination service

As the state continues to relax restrictions let us remain vigilant. Don’t become slack in following basic safety precautions. Wash your hands often. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze. Wear a mask when necessary, especially when with people outside your household or in large gatherings. Let’s continue to do our part as we head into a state of normalcy.

New Hope

The elder-elect ordination service has been rescheduled for May 16 at the E.E. Waddell Center in Albemarle. The host pastor is Bishop Ronald Carpenter of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Candidates for ordination include JoyceAnn M. Bennett, Hattie Carpenter, Pam Owens Marshall, Harriett Carpenter and Bobby L. White. Service will begin at 2 p.m. and masks are required.

Spirit and Truth

Spirit and Truth Kingdom Minded Women’s Conference will be held at 10 a.m. May 8. Speaker will be First Lady Rhodda Medley.

Prayer

The next Call To Pray will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church.

St. Luke

St. Luke will begin its regular Sunday schedule. Sunday school will be at 9:45 a.m. followed by worship service at 11. For May, Bible study will continue to be on conference call. The conference number is 1-305-848-8888 {333#}.

The household goods giveaway was rained out and has been rescheduled for 9 a.m. May 22 in the former Alcoa parking lot.

Sympathy

The community was saddened to learn of the passing of Herman A. McLendon. We express our sympathy to the family and the family of Jorene Harris Little.
