A bull riding event scheduled for Friday and Saturday at the Stanly County Fairgrounds promoted that Randy Travis and his brother Ricky Traywick would perform.

However, a publicist for Travis says that will not happen.

The Stanly News & Press received information about the event from Paul Anastasiadis, owner of A & J Rodeo Company in Mt. Pleasant, who is organizing the event. He said the brothers were going to perform during intermission of the bull riding races.

On Tuesday, Zach Farnum, Travis’ publicist with 117 Entertainment, told the SNAP that not only would Travis not perform but that he didn’t know if Travis would be at the event at all.

Travis suffered a stroke in 2013 and has aphasia, Farnum said, which is a language disorder that affects a person’s ability to communicate.
