Stanly County Veterans Service Officer Bo Almond has shared info on several Memorial Day activities.

The annual Memorial Day flag placement on the graves of veterans, sponsored by VFW Post 2908, American Legion Post 76 and American Legion Post 520, will begin at 7 a.m. May 29 with the volunteer breakfast at the Stanly County Fairgrounds. Many volunteers will leave from there to place flags.

A remembrance ceremony will be at 10 a.m. May 31 at Norwood VFW Post 6183.

A ceremony at 11 a.m. May 31 at West Stanly High School will honor fallen veterans who graduated from West Stanly.
