The 2021-2022 budget proposal for the Town of Stanfield recommends the property tax rate remain at 32 cents per $100 valuation — the same rate as in years past.

For the town’s overall budget, that will total about $1.95 million. Those monies will be split between the general fund (used for governmental activities) and the enterprise fund (water and sewer operations).

The number is a marked increase compared to the 2020-2021 budget, where the total expenditures totaled $1.36 million.

Water rates are projected to increase 10 percent while sewer rates would increase 5 percent.

The proposed General Fund expenditures total $1.48 million up from $935,000 for last fiscal year. The total includes $203,000 for general government, $469,250 for public safety, $74,000 for transportation Powell, $366,750 for maintenance, $115,000 for environmental and sanitation and $247,000 for parks and recreation.

Major appropriations in the General Fund expenditures include $270,750 for ROW/Street Maintenance repairs, $241,000 for public safety employees’ full-time salaries, $133,500 for PARTF Phase 1 project, $114,800 for waste and recycling, $98,500 for general government employees’ full-time salaries, $70,000 for street maintenance and repairs, $50,000 for parks and recreation employees’ full-time salaries, $29,025 for LGERS contribution and $28,000 for maintenance employees’ full-time salaries.

The proposed Enterprise Fund expenditures total $475,000, up from $420,000 last fiscal year. The total includes $150,000 for the water and sewer department, $115,000 for water operations and $210,000 for sewer operations.

Major appropriations in the Enterprise Fund expenditures include water and sewer employees’ full-time salaries, $116,000 for sewer treatment and $75,000 for wholesale water purchase.

The town will introduce the budget and have a public hearing during the June 3 town council meeting.
