The Stanly County Family YMCA will offer summer camp experiences again this summer.

Summer Day Camp will take place at the renovated YMCA Pavilion, 115 C B Crook Dr., Albemarle.

Camp will be open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays throughout the summer. Activities will revolve around the Summer Olympics. Campers will learn about the origins of the games, different countries, Olympic events, the power of teamwork and lots of play.

Literacy and math activities will be a regular part of the day in order to keep kids learning. They will play outside daily, swim several times each week and get to travel on field trips.

“Fun is important, but safety is our top priority. We have always worked to ensure the safety of our campers, but with the pandemic, we have worked even harder to provide a safe place for participants,” said Kelley Bigger, family services director.

Scholarships are available.

There are a few spaces still available. Open House will be at the Y Pavilion at 6 p.m. Monday. Families are invited to stop by and meet staff, ask questions and play a few games.
