Norwood resident airlifted after suffering injuries in golf cart incident

A resident of Norwood was airlifted to Charlotte Wednesday after suffering a a crash involving a golf cart.

The resident, a 30-year-old female, was turning right onto Wood Land Road off Piney Point Road. According to Trooper Michael McCormick of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, witnesses said the operator fell out of the driver’s side of the cart and was found lying between a gravel driveway and the road.

Suffering head trauma and possible internal injuries, she was airlifted to Atrium Health Main in Charlotte.

A 2-year old child sitting in the back of the golf cart was not injured.

McCormick said the investigation is pending.

The driver’s name has not released, but McCormick said she was new to Norwood, having moved here approximately two weeks ago.
