Albemarle Police responded to a fatal accident shortly after 4 p.m. Friday in front of Chick-fil-A on N.C. Highway 24-27.

Police Chief David Dulin said a driver ran into the back of another vehicle. The driver was traveling west on N.C. 24-27, left the left lane, swerved and hit the median in the road, Dulin said. The driver then went into the right lane, hit a car there and flipped over, pinning the occupant under the car.

Police are attempting to reach family members.
