Stanly County Schools has placed deputy superintendent Vicki Calvert on “leave with pay” pending an investigation, according to a statement provided by the district.

“The administration at Stanly County Schools is currently investigating an incident concerning one of our employee’s conduct at the South Stanly High School graduation ceremony,” the statement read.

The school system could not provide any additional information on the alleged conduct because it’s a personnel matter.

The Board of Education will hold an emergency meeting at 8:30 a.m. Monday, which will feature both open and closed sessions, but no action will be taken, according to the school system.

Calvert gave the commencement speech at the South Stanly graduation Friday evening.

She previously served several months as interim superintendent last year before current superintendent Dr. Jarrod Dennis took over in November.
