Stanly Community College’s auctioneering school, Carolina Auction Academy, recently held a graduation ceremony for the students. In spite of COVID-19 and bad weather conditions, these students braved the elements and joined their classmates to complete the program. Graduates are now ready to take the state exam and become licensed auctioneers in North Carolina.

The following students completed the CAA program: Blake Allen of Mt. Pleasant, Chris Davis of Grover, Ira Donovan of Cameron, Julie Fields of Salisbury, Sara Hege of Davidson, Austin Helms of Cornelius and Jacob Lineberger of Charlotte.

“These students worked hard and did exceptionally well,” said Betty O’Neal, coordinator, Carolina Auction Academy. “Every year, students vote on two awards by secret ballot. This year’s winners were Sara Hege for Most Improved and Austin Helms for Best All Around. Congratulations to these students.”

Carolina Auction Academy opened its doors to the community in August 2005, and has established a group of instructors who travel to Stanly County to share their knowledge about the auction industry.

The academy is approved by the North Carolina Auctioneer Licensing Board and the South Carolina Auctioneer Commission. The next class will begin on Sept. 9. For more information about Carolina Auction Academy, contact Betty O’Neal at 704-991-0142 or eoneal8048@stanly.edu.
