A new fast food restaurant will be coming to Locust in the near future.

Burger King, which recently submitted a zoning application with the city, will be located on the corner of N.C. Highway 24-27 and Commercial Boulevard, said Scott Efird, the city’s planning and zoning director. The restaurant will be 2,496 square feet and will have enough room for 52 people.

Efird estimates construction should begin in either late July or early August.

Starbucks filed for its business registration last week and construction should start sometime in the fourth quarter of this year. Efird said the city is still waiting on the construction drawing on the Starbucks building.

Starbucks will be on a piece of property next to McDonald’s.
