Oakboro returns with a week of Fourth of July celebrations

The Oakboro Fourth of July Celebration continues Tuesday when B&K Carnival on the Midway opens. The carnival will open at 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday.
The Little Miss 4th of July Pageant is also scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, with a free concert by Darrell Harwood following at 8:30 p.m.
Individuals can sign up for the talent show 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakboro Fire Department. Blackwater Rhythm and Blues will perform a free concert at 8:30 p.m.
At 6 p.m. Thursday, locals will showcase their talents. Tim Clark will follow with a free concert at 8:30 p.m.
The Entertainers will perform a free show at 9 p.m. Friday.
The celebration concludes with a day full of activities on Saturday.
At 9 a.m. the Fourth of July Parade will commence through downtown Oakboro. At 11 a.m., Mayor Joyce Little will offer welcoming remarks, followed by the invocation, National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance and flag raising. Afterward, the Miss Stanly County Fire Queen Pageant will begin. There will also be a barbecue lunch available at the fire department (dine-in or carryout).
The carnival will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and reopen at 5 p.m.
The Tonez will perform a free concert at 8:30 p.m.
A raffle drawing at 10:30 p.m. and fireworks will wrap up the 2021 celebration.
