Mother of the Year

Mrs. F. Leland “Mae” Greenlee of Badin was chosen as Mother of the Year in the contest sponsored by the Stanly Home Demonstration Club Council.

Runner-up was Mrs. J.C. Meigs of Palmerville and third place had gone to Mrs. W.B. Carter of Endy.

Conference

Beth Ann Eddins, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George E. Eddins Jr. of Albemarle, would attend the World YMCA Youth Conference in Stavagner, Norway in July.

Convention

Jane Lowder, a rising junior at Albemarle Senior High and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Lowder of Albemarle, would fly from Charlotte Sunday morning to Tacoma, Washington to participate in the National Student Council convention June 26-30.

Church

Prospect Baptist Church planned to break ground on a new three-story educational building to be added to the southern portion of the church building.

Training

Gerrie Watson, head majorette at Albemarle High, and Sharon Sides were attending a week of baton training and competition at N.C. State University.
