Principal

The new principal of Albemarle Senior High School would be Warren Hawkins of Asheboro.

Hawkins had met with the Albemarle City School Board and had been named by the board to succeed Jacob M. Carter, who had resigned to accept the post of assistant superintendent in the Stanly County school system.

Break-In

Three hundred cartons of cigarettes, two country hams, cigars and other miscellaneous items had been stolen Monday night in a break-in at the Stop & Shop Grocery in Locust by thieves who forced their way inside through the front door.
