Pfeiffer University, in partnership with the City of Albemarle and Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation, invites the community to join alumni and friends for Falcons Nite Out 5-9:30 p.m. Sept. 24 in downtown Albemarle.

Falcons Nite Out is part of Pfeiffer University’s festivities planned to celebrate Homecoming Weekend Sept. 23-25. For a full schedule of homecoming activities, visit community.pfeiffer.edu/hc.

“While Pfeiffer and Albemarle have been connected in various ways for nearly a century, Pfeiffer is excited that this relationship has been strengthened and even cemented with the addition of the downtown Albemarle campus of Pfeiffer University, the Center for Health Sciences,” said Dr. Scott Bullard, president of Pfeiffer University. “The creation of the new campus is the result of a truly collaborative relationship between Pfeiffer and the citizens of Stanly County. We will celebrate this new symbol of our relationship in a special way this year on Homecoming weekend, when many alumni will visit the Center for Health Sciences for the very first time in person, and also have the opportunity to be re-introduced to a reinvigorated Albemarle, complete with new restaurants, coffee shops, breweries and other small businesses that compliment some of the existing businesses and firms that have been anchors in the downtown community for decades, even centuries. We hope all Pfeiffer alumni will consider a weekend in Stanly County to remember our rich history, celebrate a vibrant present characterized by innovation and imagine the future.”

Local restaurants and businesses will be offering specials for the evening. Live music by Charlotte-based acoustic group Donkey will be played in Courthouse Square Park starting at 6:30 p.m. Tours of the new Pfeiffer Center for Health Sciences will be offered from 5-8:30 p.m.

Guests can visit the Welcome Station located at Courthouse Square on Sept. 24 and pick up a game card to play a scavenger hunt game hosted by participating downtown businesses. Stamped cards can be redeemed for prizes at the Welcome Station throughout the evening.

“The city is proud to host a night out for the Pfeiffer University homecoming in cooperation with the ADDC and our downtown businesses,” Albemarle Mayor Ronnie Michael said. “Pfeiffer is a major influence on the future of our downtown and we are excited to see the returning alumni and the current students supporting our downtown and our businesses supporting Pfeiffer. It is great to see the transformation occurring and what the future holds. Downtown churches and businesses have adopted the Pfeiffer students and continue to sponsor events and opportunities for support and success. We invite everyone to come out and be a part of welcoming Pfeiffer and support the downtown businesses. The downtown is changing and you can be a part of the excitement coming to our city.”
