The North Carolina High School Athletic Association released the winners of the Wells Fargo Conference Cup for the various conferences from the 2020-21 academic year.

West Stanly claimed the 2A/3A Rocky River Conference Wells Fargo Cup over conference rival Mount Pleasant. The Colts finished with 85.5 points, with the Tigers coming in second with 79.5. Central Academy was third with 68 points, followed by Forest Hills (47.5), Montgomery Central (44) and Anson County (33).

The Colts won RRC regular-season titles in men’s and women’s cross-country, women’s tennis, volleyball, baseball and softball along with a co-championship with Forest Hills in men’s basketball.

This year’s Conference Cup is the fifth in a row for West Stanly.

According to the NCHSAA, the Conference Cup “is based on regular season performances within conference play and is designed to recognize the best interscholastic athletic performances within each of the NCHSAA’s conferences.”

The Yadkin Valley Conference did not have a Conference Cup winner this year due to COVID-19, according to a release from the NCHSAA. The YVC traditionally has its own conference cup award, the Jack Gaster Cup.
