Bank

Cabarrus Bank and Trust Company had announced plans for a full-service drive-in branch on the corner of North First and Glenn streets.

Leonard Mabry, vice president, said the bank had purchased a lot on this corner measuring 150 by 175 feet and hoped to begin construction of the new banking facility in 60 to 90 days.

The bank was expected to be completed in early spring of next year.

Hospital

There had been 84 patients admitted to the Stanly County Hospital during July who were covered under the provisions of Medicare, the national health program for the aged.

Hospital administrator J. Crenshaw Thompson said the average number of Medicare patients in the hospital each day was 26. With the average adult census standing at 92.5 for the month, this meant that Medicare patients had accounted for 28.1 percent of the average census for the first 31 days of operation.
