The final two revival services are at 6:30 tonight and tomorrow night.

The community is invited.

Sunday school is at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall, followed by in-person worship services at 11 a.m. Masks are recommended and encouraged. As an alternative the church currently streams services via Facebook Live or offers access via 107.7 FM from the church parking lot.

A homecoming service is planned for Aug. 22 at 11 a.m. Everyone is invited.

Palestine’s VBS has been rescheduled for Aug. 28. Activities will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and lunch will be served.

Badin Elementary

The school’s annual Open House on Aug. 19 is for grades 1-5. Parents may choose between two time slots: 7:30-9 a.m. or 5-7 p.m.

Letters are being mailed to parents of kindergarten students about the Aug. 26 Kindergarten Open House. The letters also explain plans for kindergarten’s staggered entry when school begins.

The community is invited to vote for Badin Elementary in HEMCO’s Back to School Showdown.

The Albemarle company will give $1,000 to the PTO and treat the staff and faculty of the winning school to breakfast. Badin Elementary’s Facebook page has a link for voting before Aug. 29. The Badin Watts welcome everyone’s support.

Stony Hill UMC

The church is collecting school supplies during August for Badin Elementary School students. A list is available on Stony Hill’s Facebook page or on the school’s page.

The Summer Hot Dog Sale continues through Aug. 21. Pastor Beau Linker and friends can be found grilling and meeting neighbors at the church between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The address is 18 Hickory St.

Movies on the Green

Everyone is invited to enjoy a free showing of “Secondhand Lions” (PG) on Aug. 28 on the Village Green, Falls Road. Bring chairs or blankets and purchase beverages beginning at 6:30 p.m. The show will start at 8 p.m.
Better Badin, Inc. extends thanks to everyone who supported the movie fundraiser in July.

Generous donations from individuals and organizations made it possible for Better Badin to present a $10,000 check to Tho and Phoudone Naovarath, owners of Tho Pizza and Hot Subs.

Plans for expanding the restaurant were hampered when the building was damaged by a fire in early May, but the Naovaraths’ dream is still alive.

Morrow Mountain

Dog lovers can celebrate National Dog Day on a dog-friendly hike of the Mountain Loop Trail (0.8 mi.) on Aug. 26 from 10-11 a.m.

Register ahead of time by messaging Alden.Early@ncparks.gov.

Ranger Early will lead the hike beginning at the top of Morrow Mountain.
