Albemarle police officer arrested on domestic violence charge

Late Tuesday evening, Albemarle Police Department issued a press release regarding the arrest of an APD officer on a domestic violence charge.

Officer Jeremy Brown, 27, was arrested and charged with assault on a female. He is being held without bond at the Stanly County Jail.

According to the release, at 5:32 p.m., APD officers responded to a domestic violence call at the Chimney Apartments.

Brown has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation, according to the release. His first court date will be Wednesday.

The statement further read “the Albemarle Police Department will continue to hold its officers to the highest standard. The criminal and the internal investigation is still ongoing. “
