The Stanly County Arts Council announces that application forms and grant guidelines for Artist Support Grants for 2021-2022 will be available beginning Sept. 8.

These grants support individual artists in all disciplines with funding for projects that will have a significant impact on the advancement of their professional artistic careers.

Completed applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. Oct. 15.

Workshops for interested artists will be offered on both Sept. 15 and Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Campbell House. The workshops will be presented simultaneously in person or via zoom. Campbell House is at 482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines. To register for either zoom or in person presentation, RSVP by phone at 910-692-ARTS (2787) no later than 5 p.m. Sept. 14.

The Artist Support Grant (ASG) was created to provide direct support to individual artists during and following the COVID-19 pandemic. ​The ASG is replacing the former grant referred to as the Regional Artist Project Grant (RAPG).

The Artist Support Grant program is managed through a partnership with the Arts Council of Moore County to serve artists in Anson, Montgomery, Moore, Richmond, Stanly and Union counties. Funding is provided by the North Carolina Arts Council and participating arts councils.

Artists at any stage of their careers, emerging or established, are eligible to apply for grants in all disciplines, such as visual art and craft, traditional art forms, music composition, film/video, literature and playwriting, choreography and dance. Types of fundable projects include the creation of new work, purchase of equipment and materials and professional development workshops. Grant guidelines and applications can be downloaded from the Arts Council of Moore County’s website at www.MooreArt.org. Upon request, application forms can also be emailed or mailed to interested artists.

Grant awards generally range from $500 to $1,500, and are intended to fund projects that begin no earlier than Jan. 1, 2022 and conclude by Dec. 31, 2022. Funds must be spent by June 30, 2022.
