Blood Bankers

Ann Carland, blood bank supervisor at Stanly Memorial Hospital, was elected president of the North Carolina Association of Blood Bankers at the meeting of the association in Raleigh Sept. 10-12.

A veteran of 17 years with the hospital, Carland previously served as treasurer and on the Board of Directors of the state association.

Dorms

A new era of campus life was ushered in at Pfeiffer College on Sept. 15 as students moved into the first of nine residence halls, or dormitories, to be completely renovated. The center of all the attention was Kluftinger residence hall for men, which had taken on a new look since it was closed for renovations.

Kluftinger, a two-story structure which was built in 1955 and contained 32 living units providing housing for 64 students, was now air conditioned throughout. It had been reworked inside and out for the standpoint of energy efficiency, with the addition of such as items as thermopane windows and insulation. The building also had new floors, carpet, paint, wallpaper and furniture.
