Doctor

Dr. Robert Kent Dyer, specialist in urology, was moving to Albemarle for the practice of his profession and expected to open an office here later in the Medical Arts building on Yadkin Street.

Farm Census

The January 1966 Farm Census showed that the county had 200,962 acres in tracts of five acres or more. Of this, 45,418 acres were in harvested crop land and 29,039 acres in improved pastureland.

The county had 27,441 idle acres from which no crops were saved or grazed and 94,594 acres of woods, wastelands, cutover acres and the like.

Bridge

Completion was anticipated this week on the new bridge spanning Long Creek on West Main Street in the vicinity of the new Ware Knitters complex in West Albemarle.

All that remained to finish the construction was the erection of handrails with pedestrian walks. When completed, the bridge would be 28 feet from curb to curb.

Library

Mrs. G. Ritchie Wall had been elected chairwoman of the Stanly County Library Board at the October meeting of the group. William T. Huckabee III was named vice chairman.
