South Stanly men’s cross country wins YVC

The South Stanly men’s cross-country team recently placed first in the 2021 Yadkin Valley Conference meet.
Davis Wright took individual medalist honors, running a 17:49 to finish in first place. Teammate Joshua Huneycutt placed second with a time of 18:10. South runners Ranfere Garcia (fourth-18:53) and Jayden Oliver (fifth-18:54) and Gavin Miller (seventh-19:06) earned All-Conference honors by finishing in the top 10.
The Bulls finished with 19 points to win the team event, followed by Union Academy (60), Gray Stone (74) and North Stanly (131).
Nicolas McClure of North Stanly earned All-Conference honors, placing sixth with a time of 18:56, along with Gray Stone’s AJ Flynn (ninth-19:15) and Wesley Rodgers (10th-19:17).
The 1A Midwest Regionals will be hosted by South Davidson Oct. 30.
