STANLY FOOTBALL NOTEBOOK: Three Stanly teams go on the road

In football teams Friday night, Albemarle and South Stanly were on the road in the 1A state playoffs and West Stanly traveled to Hendersonville in the 2A playoffs.

Hendersonville 42, West Stanly 0

The Colts (3-5), ranked 28th in the 2A Western Region fell to 3-6 on the season losing on the road to the No. 5 ranked Bearcats (9-1) Friday night.

West Stanly graduates 13 players from this year’s team.

Mountain Heritage 51, Albemarle 0

The Bulldogs’ season ended Friday night in a road loss to the No. 8 seeded Cougars (8-2)on the road.

Albemarle (2-8) was shut out for the sixth time this season. The team trailed 22-0 after one quarter and 36-0 at halftime.

This season, the Bulldogs had four seniors on their team.

Starmount 65, South Stanly 8

The Bulls’ season ended on the road Friday night as South fell to 2-8 with a road loss at the No. 7-seeded Rams (7-4).

Taewan Morris scored on a 30-yard touchdown run to spoil the shutout bid for Starmount in the fourth quarter.

South had six seniors on this season’s squad.
