The 2021 Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony for five former student-athlete standouts, scheduled for Jan. 28, has been postponed due to COVID. Plans for rescheduling the ceremony remain to be determined and will be announced at a later date.

“We are so very sorry that COVID has negatively impacted so many special events and festivities, and we are very disappointed that this Hall of Fame induction ceremony is now among them,” said Director of Athletics Danielle Lafferty. “We look forward to honoring Pfeiffer’s great athletes very soon.”

The 2021 Pfeiffer Sports Hall of Fame inductees are:

Brittnay Beltran Cross ’09 – Women’s Golf

Cross, who majored in sports management, was a four-year letter winner for the Pfeiffer women’s golf team from 2005 to 2009.

She was named the Conference Carolinas’ Golfer of the Year three consecutive years (2007, 2008, 2009) and was part of three Pfeiffer teams that won Conference Carolinas titles (2006, 2008, 2009). She was named an NCGA Division II Second Team All-American selection during the 2006-2007 season.

Over her career, she won 11 individual titles, which included two Conference Carolinas championships, in 2006 and 2007.

Leading Pfeiffer to a national ranking during her career, she was an All-Region selection, and she was an NCAA Regional Qualifier, in 2008 and 2009.

After her golf career at Pfeiffer ended, Cross stayed active in the golf community. Rather than pursue a professional playing career, she began working with junior golfers at the Dana Rader Golf School in Charlotte, where she assisted with camps, clinics and the USGA-LPGA Girls Golf Program as a U.S. Kids Golf Certified Instructor.

Cross is the program director at First Tee of Greater Charlotte. During her time at First Tee, she has developed a golf program for young golfers with autism and reestablished the women’s-only program.

Brittany Cox Hudson ’13 – Women’s Basketball

Hudson, who majored in sports management, was a standout four-year player for the Pfeiffer women’s basketball team from 2009 to 2013.

During her college athletic career, she earned several honors, including an honorable mention selection to the WBCA Division II Coaches All-America Team after leading Pfeiffer to a 25-7 record and a 17-5 mark in Conference Carolinas play while winning the league’s regular season title. During the 2012-13 season, she was a Second Team selection to the Daktronics Division II All-Southeast Region Team, and the Falcons earned a bid in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament.

She also led the league in scoring at 20.8 points-per game in the 2012-13 season, finishing with 573 points, which stands as the second-best mark on the Pfeiffer single-season career list.

Hudson earned numerous academic awards, including the Conference Carolinas Winter Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the CoSIDA Academic All-District award, and the CoSIDA CapitalOne Academic All-America First Team award.

She was named the 2012 Pfeiffer Female Athlete of the Year and earned the 2019 Pfeiffer Presidential Merit Award.

Hudson served as the head girls basketball coach at West Forsyth High School for six seasons, leading the Titans to the NCHSAA 4A Championship in 2019, the first for a 4A school from Forsyth County. Currently, she is the athletic director at the recently opened Lewisville Middle School in Lewisville.

Julian Domenech ’89, ’93 MBA – Men’s Soccer, Women’s Lacrosse, Men’s Golf, Athletic Administrator

Domenech double-majored in business administration and in economics, then earned an MBA from Pfeiffer. He served his alma mater as head coach of three programs and as an athletic administrator.

Domenech coached the men’s soccer team from 1990 until 1993. He followed that with a stint as the men’s golf coach from 1994 to 1995, guiding the Falcons to the National Tournament while coaching Pfeiffer Sports Hall of Fame inductee Steve Armstrong ’95 to the 1995 NAIA National Individual Championship.

As the women’s lacrosse coach at Pfeiffer, he became the winningest coach in program history, finishing his career with an overall record of 64-34. He coached women’s lacrosse at the University from 2003 until 2008, leading the Falcons to the 2005 CVAC regular season championship and the 2007 CVAC Tournament Championship.

In the 2007 season, he coached nine women’s lacrosse players to single-season All-CVAC and All-Tournament honors. He coached eight lacrosse All-Americans and mentored players Melissa Anderson and Jenny Deans, who won CVAC Player of the Year honors in 2006 and 2007, respectively.

Domenech won CVAC Coach of the Year honors in 2005 and 2007.

Domenech also served women’s lacrosse beyond Pfeiffer. He was a member of the NCAA Division II Women’s Lacrosse Championship Committee from 2006 to 2008, serving as chair during the 2007-2008 season. He was also a member of the IWLCA National Board of Directors as a Division II representative. In 2007, he received the IWLCA Service Award.

In addition to his coaching career, Domenech served Pfeiffer University in several administrative roles, including executive director of the Falcon Club and assistant athletic director. He also was the sports information director from 1991 to 1996.

In 2008, Domenech was hired as the athletic director at the Severn School in Arnold, Maryland, and in 2010, was inducted into its athletic Hall of Fame.

Domenech has also been recognized by the MIAA Conference as AD of the Year in 2012-13 and 2017-18.

Rachell McDonald Pruett ’04 – Women’s Soccer

Pruett, who majored in physical education, was a standout soccer player for the Falcons from 2000 to 2004. She was a member of the 2000 CVAC Championship team, earning league Freshman of the Year honors.

She earned All-CVAC First Team honors in both 2000 and 2003 and Second Team honors in 2001 and 2002.

In 2001, she was a CVAC All-Tournament selection and earned All-Southeast Region honors by the National Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association (NCSAA).

In 2003, she was tabbed as the Pfeiffer Female Athlete of the Year. That season, she scored eight goals and had three assists.

She finished her Falcon career with 84 career points (third all time), 31 goals (fourth all time) and 22 assists (fourth all time).

Pruett also appears prominently throughout the Pfeiffer single-season record book with 38 points (third overall), 15 goals (fourth overall) and eight assists (eighth overall).

Bob Schuck ’65 – Men’s Soccer, Baseball, High School Administrator

In addition to majoring in health, physical education, and recreation, Schuck was a dual-sport athlete in the 1960s. He was a member of the Pfeiffer men’s soccer team from 1962 to 1963, playing for legendary coach Nick Lefko ’37.

As a goalkeeper, he was named to the 1963 All-South Team as an honorable mention selection and in 1964 was a First-Team selection.

Schuck was also a member of the Falcon baseball team, playing for Coach Joe Ferebee from 1960 to 1965. As a catcher and a third baseman, he was part of numerous regular season and conference championship teams throughout his career.

Following his playing career, Schuck began a lifelong career in education, serving schools in the North Carolina counties of Guilford, Granville, Davidson, Forsyth and Rockingham.

He served as athletic director at Ragsdale High School in Jamestown for many years, earning recognition as the Guilford County Athletic Director of the Year.

He spent a majority of his 52 years in education as a coach, serving as the assistant football and baseball coach at several schools.

As an assistant football coach, he was on the coaching staff of four NCHSAA state championship teams, winning two titles at Reidsville High School, one at T.W. Andrews High School, and one at Mt. Pleasant High School while completing his student teaching.

In 2004, he was named an honorary coach of the N.C./S.C. Shrine Bowl.
