Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Half the fun of watching Sunday’s AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals was keeping an eye out for Stanly County son, No. 92 B.J. Hill.

As a faithful but disenchanted Washington Football Team fan, it’s nice to have a quality team such as the Bengals to cheer on.

I was absolutely thrilled with B.J.’s fantastic interception of Patrick Mahomes’ pass late in the third quarter which led to the Bengals’ game-tying drive. This single play seemed to give the Bengals the spark they needed to pull off the upset. The play was particularly significant since Mahomes is rarely intercepted; sports pundits reported that this was the first interception of Mahomes in 132 pass attempts during championship games.

Congratulations, B.J.!

Your community is proud of you, and we’ll be rooting for your success in the Big Game on Feb. 13.

We know you’ll make it a long night for Matthew Stafford!
