Stanly County Schools will be participating in an accrediting process in April with the accrediting body Cognia in order to learn more about the quality of the school system.

The process takes place every five years, according to the district, and includes the collection of data through surveys to students, staff and parents.

Surveys will be available to complete Feb. 24-25 and can be previewed on the school system’s website. Parents not wanting their children to participate should send a note to the school requesting to opt-out of the Cognia Accreditation student survey.

Cognia is the world’s largest accrediting organization, according to its website, which serves more than 36,000 schools in the United States and 85 countries.
