At Friday’s retreat of the Stanly County Board of Commissioners, the board set priorities in terms of water line extension projects.

County Manager Andy Lucas presented five areas for the board to consider water line extensions as part of the $4 million set aside for such projects. The projects will move into the time frame of zero to five years for their completion.

The areas the board prioritized were Meadow Creek Church Road from Wildflower to Old Hickory Road, and Stony Gap Road from U.S. Highway 52 Business to N.C. 24/27/73 in Albemarle.

Commissioners used maps with stickers numbered one through five to prioritize the projects. Along with the two approved roads, extensions on Swift Road, Tyson Road and Coley Store Road were included in the vote.

Commissioner Mike Barbee was recused from the voting and the motion due to owning property on one of the roads up for consideration.
