A Ridgecrest residence caught fire Monday, drawing a huge number of firefighters and equipment to fight the blaze.

Firefighters from Ridgecrest, West Stanly, Oakboro and Endy responded to a residential structure fire at approximately 12 p.m. at the residence of Matthew and Melanie Hudson on 20037 Crest Road.

According to a social media post, West Stanly Engine 461, Tanker 464, Tower 46 and Squad 47 responded, a total of 10 personnel, along with units from Ridgecrest,

The post stated Ridgecrest Engine 361 arrived first on scene for a one-story residence. The fire was in the basement and forced crews to take a defensive posture; no hydrant nearby, strong winds, limited resources and the speed of the fire’s progression forced an additional call for personnel and tankers. Southside, Aquadale and Mount Pleasant responded to the additional alarm.

The origin and cause of the fire are being investigated by the Stanly County Fire Marshal’s Office. No injuries were reported.
