Editor’s Note: For coverage of the primary election, The Stanly News & Press sent questions to each group of candidates. We limited their responses to 200 words per answer. Answers appear as is, with the exception of editing for grammatical/spelling errors or length. This allows potential voters to see the candidates through their own words and gives equal opportunity for the candidates to respond. We gave candidates two weeks to email their answers back.

1. Please give a brief bio on yourself and tell our readers why you have decided to run for election?

Efird: My name is Ginger Efird. I am a lifelong resident of Stanly County. I attended Aquadale Elementary, South Stanly High School, Stanly Community College and Pfeiffer University. I reside in the Endy Community with my husband, Jeffrey “Chad” Efird, Jr. and my two daughters.

Ginger Efird

For many years I had considered running for Clerk of Court; however, I knew that I would not actively pursue this political office until current Clerk of Court Michael E. Huneycutt was ready to retire.

Professional colleagues and friends came to me encouraging me to pursue this opportunity that we had discussed many times. After talking with my husband and extended family I received their blessing and support to move forward in pursuing this career goal, one that I feel I am qualified to achieve and hold. I have given my professional career to the citizens of this great state spanning many counties.

With over 21 years of court administration experience, I am confident that I will make the citizens of Stanly County proud as their Clerk of Court.

Greene: I am a conservative Republican. I support the Second Amendment and pro life.

Michael Greene

I am married to Kimberli Greene; we have three grown children and one grandchild.

I have a passion to serve and make a positive difference in my community. I have served my community for more than half my life. I started when I was 21 and now I’m 56. It is what I know best, enjoy and want to continue doing. I am a people person who truly enjoys helping people. I promise if you ask anyone who knows me, they will tell you I am the best person for this job. I believe in old school ways where a man or woman is good as their word and a handshake still means something.

I am the same person no matter where you see me. I am who I say I am. I am a current member of the West Stanly Rotary Club, past president, and was voted Rotarian of the Year in 2020.

Blake: My name is Pam Blake and I am a proud Stanly County native and lifelong resident.

Pam Blake

I was born and raised in Norwood and graduated from South Stanly High School in 1993. My family consists of husband, Jeremy Blake, and son, Chance Blake. We have our home in New London and have lived there for 20+ years.

I am a member of Union Grove Baptist Church where I serve as the youth leader and assist my husband with his pastoral duties.

I have been employed with the Stanly County Tax Administration Office for 23+ years. The last 10 years I have served as the tax collections supervisor.

The main reason I am running for office is that I love to help people and serve my community. I realize that everyone who comes to the Clerk of Court’s Office needs a helping hand. That helping hand could be estate administration, traffic citations, court calendar questions, jury duty selection or assisting with an adoption. I look forward to being a great influence for staff and co-workers.

I will work hard to be an asset to the Stanly County Clerk of Court’s Office.
