The Chick-fil-A in Albemarle remained closed on Wednesday, following damage to the store’s electrical system from a lightning strike on Monday, according to its Facebook page.

Electricians will be at the location to install a new electrical panel.

“As long as nothing further is damaged, we are planning to open normal hours on Thursday,” the store posted on Facebook.

Chick-fil-A could not be reached for comment for this story.

Stanly County was hit with heavy rainfall throughout the day Monday and a tornado warning was briefly issued in the early afternoon. The area received more than 2 inches of rain.

Looking ahead, there’s a 50 percent chance of up to a quarter of an inch of rain on Thursday after 2 p.m., with precipitation increasing to 70 percent at night, according to the National Weather Service. On Friday, the chance of rain increases to about 80 percent with up to one inch of rain possible.

The rest of the week should be clear and mostly sunny.
