Norwood Lions Club, active in this community for more than 77 years, will be involved in its second year of vision screening for several schools in Stanly County.

Screenings will be Badin Elementary School Oct. 4, Norwood Elementary School Oct. 13, Aquadale Elementary School Nov. 7 and South Stanly Middle School Nov. 15.

The school staff will be responsible for permission slips.

“Last year, our first year doing this, was phenomenal,” Club President Dennis Layton said. “We were able to screen 129 students, with about 20% being referred to an eye doctor.  It was so gratifying to know that 25 students had one less thing to hold them back from learning.  This is just one of the things we do to assist people in their care of their vision.”

Anyone interested in volunteering for this or joining the Norwood Lions is asked to contact Layton at 704-905-8193.
