The USA South has announced the 2022 Preseason Men’s Soccer Coaches polls, with Pfeiffer picked to finish in fifth place.

After finishing 6-8 overall and 4-3 in USA South play a season ago, Pfeiffer returns 19 letterwinners and welcomes 17 newcomers to The Village this fall.

Junior Sam Stewart (Belhaven) returns after netting 11 total points (three goals, five assists) last season. Also returning is senior Nico Soriano (Concord), coming back after scoring three goals and providing an assist last year.

Sophomore Ali Jaafar (Matthews) returns after logging nearly 1,000 minutes in goal in 2021. Jaafar made 41 saves and had a GAA of 2.45 as the primary Falcon netminder.

Pfeiffer will open its 2022 schedule in The Village on Thursday at Lefko Field with a 7 p.m. matchup with ODAC opponent Guilford.

The men’s match is part of doubleheader action with the Pfeiffer women’s team.

William Peace was ranked No. 1 in the poll. It is the defending regular season champion for the East Division.
