The running of the bulls has not moved to Stanly County, but one bull is out practicing.

A rodeo bull is on the loose in Norwood. Police Chief James Wilson said “it broke through the wall and escaped” from the stockyard on Indian Mound Road around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

“They brought in some cowboys from out of town to try and track this bull down,” Wilson said Thursday morning.

More professionals with dogs trained to track cattle are expected Thursday, Wilson said.

The bull weighs around 700 pounds.

A Facebook post Wednesday urged citizens, “This bull is chocolate in color and is extremely aggressive. If you See this bull please call 911 immediately and under no circumstances should you approach the animal, as he will Chase you.”

Anyone with knowledge of the bull’s location can also call Norwood Police at 704-474-3716.
