On Monday, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation was requested by Albemarle Police Chief Jason Bollhorst to investigate allegations of criminal misconduct involving APD officer Logan Andrew Johnson and a minor based on information the police department received. SBI agents with the Southern Piedmont District office immediately began an investigation.

According to a press release from the SBI, on Tuesday Johnson was arrested in Albemarle and charged with one count of felony statutory sex offense with a child under the age of 15, one count of felony indecent liberties with a child and one count of felony solicitation of a child by computer or electronic device.

After going before a magistrate, Johnson was issued a $500,000 secured bond and was booked at the Anson County Jail in Wadesboro.

The City of Albemarle issued a statement following the arrest.

“The Albemarle Police Department is aware of the arrest of APD officer Logan Johnson.

“After becoming aware of allegations, the Albemarle Police Department immediately notified the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation so that an independent and comprehensive investigation could be conducted.

“The Albemarle Police Department has cooperated fully with the SBI’s investigation.

“The officer was hired in the Patrol Division on 8/9/2021. The officer is on unpaid administrative suspension, pending the results of an administrative investigation.”
