The City of Albemarle has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for the city’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021.
The City of Albemarle’s annual comprehensive financial report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.
“Earning the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting is a significant accomplishment for our City,” Albemarle Mayor Ronnie Michael said. “This award clearly demonstrates to our residents a commitment to the city’s mission of offering sound management, transparency and good stewardship of resources.”
“I’m very grateful for our Finance Department staff and the efforts they make each day to help our city receive this honor,” said Jacob Weavil, Albemarle finance director. “Special thanks to all departments and city staff for their support of our work. We all share in this special achievement.”
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. This is the fifth consecutive year Albemarle has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
