Troopers seek suspect after fatal collision in Montgomery County

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is requesting assistance in identifying an unknown vehicle and driver who fled the scene of a hit and run collision around 6 a.m. Monday on Capelsie Road, north of Hicks Road, at Long Hill Baptist Church.

Troopers responded to a pedestrian struck on Capelsie Road and discovered a pedestrian identified as Brandon Michael Thompson, 32, from the Troy area, deceased at the scene. An unknown pickup truck was traveling Northbound on Capelsie Road and struck Thompson while he was lying in the roadway, Highway Patrol reports. After impact the truck stopped briefly at the Long Hill Church parking lot and then fled the scene. As a result of the collision, the pedestrian was fatally wounded and died at the scene.

The collision is under investigation and Trooper K. D. King is the primary investigator.
