Stanly County Chorale announces rehearsals, musical director

The Stanly County Chorale will begin rehearsals Tuesday for the spring concert “Spring Has Sprung!  A Musical Bouquet.”

Weekly rehearsals 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Albemarle, on the corner of North Second Street and East North Street.

New singers are welcome, and are encouraged to park in the large parking lot behind the church.

The concert dates are scheduled for April 1-2.

The Chorale Board of Directors announces the selection of Lisa Ewers as the new musical director.

Ewers earned her bachelor’s degree in music from Pfeiffer College. Over the past 30 years, she has sung in the Chorale and served a term on the Board of Directors. She has also served as assistant director and interim artistic director for One Voice Chorus of Charlotte.

She currently directs music at Epworth UMC in Concord and has directed music for New London UMC. She also plays in the Stanly County Concert Band and serves on the board of the Uwharrie Players.

Zoey Brouthers will return as the Chorale’s accompanist. She holds a BA degree in piano performance from Appalachian State University and a MA degree in music theory from Bowling Green State University.

She teaches music theory and musicianship at Pfeiffer University. She resides in Cary, where she teaches private piano lessons.

The Stanly County Chorale is supported by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Stanly County Arts Council.
