Pfeiffer men’s basketball wins big at Brevard

The Pfeiffer University men’s basketball team had no trouble with homestanding Brevard College in an 88-59 road win over the Tornados on Tuesday night at Boshamer Gym.

Pfeiffer had four players in double figures, with Daymon Beckwith (Jacksonville, N.C.) and Rashamel Butler (Ridgeland, S.C.) each scoring 16 points in the win. In addition, Beckwith had three rebounds and three assists while Butler had a pair of rebounds and four assists.  Daniel Fulp (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and Jordan Byrd (Mebane, N.C.) rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Falcons, with Fulp managing 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds, while Byrd posted his season-best with 10 points.

Pfeiffer shot for a season-high 57.7% by shooting 30-of-52 from the field and 11-of-21 (52.4%) from beyond the arc, which is also a season-high.

The win improves Pfeiffer to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in USA South play.

Pfeiffer will look to continue its winning ways this upcoming weekend, as they host Mary Baldwin on Friday and Southern Virginia on Saturday.  Both games are part of doubleheaders with the Pfeiffer women’s basketball team.
