One suspect has been linked to a multi-county chase from earlier this week.

Marcus Kevin Magness Jr., 19, of Charlotte, is one of two individuals involved in a chase that included Montgomery and Stanly counties, according to David Fath, public information officer for the City of Albemarle. The identity of a second suspect has not been determined.

Around 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, Albemarle police officers were notified that a Dodge Charger Hellcat was being pursued by the Biscoe Police. The vehicle crossed into Stanly County and was quickly approaching the city limits of Albemarle at a high rate of speed, according to information released by Albemarle Police.

The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office was able to deploy stop sticks on East Main Street near Charter Street in an effort to stop the vehicle from speeding through Albemarle. The stop sticks were successful and disabled both right-side tires on the vehicle.

Albemarle Police attempted to stop the vehicle at N.C. Highway 24-27 and East Main Street, however, the vehicle continued traveling on its rims until reaching the city limits of Locust.

The vehicle stopped after it struck a North Carolina State Highway Patrol vehicle. At this point, two males in the suspect vehicle fled on foot.

With the assistance of Oakboro Police, Locust Police and Stanfield Police, the suspects were taken into custody.

Investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen during the night from a car dealership in Fuquay-Varina.
