Pfeiffer University has named Heather Schoch as the new head coach to lead the Falcon volleyball program.

Schoch comes to Pfeiffer after serving as head volleyball coach at Cox Mill High School in Concord for the previous two seasons. While with the Chargers, she won the 2022 Greater Metro 4A Conference title after posting a 10-2 overall record and advanced to the NCHSAA 4A playoffs. Schoch coached Jadyn Webb to the Greater Metro 4A Player of the Year Award and finished with the 2022 season with an 18-9 overall record.

She also served as JV head coach from 2020 to 2021, winning the South Piedmont 3A title with a perfect 12-0 mark and was an assistant on the Cox Mill team that advanced to the NCHSAA 3A State Finals, finishing with an 18-1 overall mark.

Prior to her time at Cox Mill, Schoch served as head volleyball coach at Mallard Creek High School from 2019 to 2020, leading the Mavericks to a 20-9 record and a second place finish in the I-Meck 4A Conference. She also coached Morgan Allen, who now plays at N.C. A&T, to the I-Meck 4A Player of the Year Award.

Schoch has 75 career wins at the high school level the past five seasons and has coached eight All-Conference players and three All-State selections.

Schoch also has experience at the club level, serving as head coach with the Lake Norman Volleyball Club in their 16U national program. While with Lake Norman, she oversaw all aspects of the training and development of the 16U program. In 2020, she coached LNVC to the finals of the Capitol Hill Volleyball Classic in Washington, D.C.

No stranger to the collegiate ranks, Schoch spent one season as assistant coach at Pfeiffer during the 2018 season and also served on the bench as a student-assistant at Eastern Michigan University during the 1993 season under then head coach Nona Richardson

Schoch played collegiate volleyball at Eastern Michigan from 1989 to 1992. While with the Eagles she appeared in 62 matches and posted a career .187 hitting percentage. During her senior season, she had 167 kills while posting a .233 percentage. She also had 39 career solo blocks and 49 career block assists to go along with 379 digs.

Schoch earned her bachelor’s degree in social work in 1994 from Eastern Michigan and a master’s degree in 2014 from Concordia University in coaching and athletic administration.

Schoch is married to her husband, Pete, and they have four children.
