Partners in Health coalition, in collaboration with NC Cooperative Extension and Albemarle Parks and Recreation, will host its annual Golden shoe event.
Golden Shoe is an event where all ages are encouraged to get outdoors and enjoy the recreational parks in Stanly County. This event will be March 11-24, with prize claiming available 10 a.m. to noon March 25 at City Lake Park.
Golden Shoe parks include Badin, Chuck Morehead, City Lake, Norwood, Oakboro, Richfield, Rock Creek, New London and Stanfield.
In this event 200 old shoes are repurposed by being painted gold and given a tag with a unique number. The shoes are then hidden all around parks in the county to be found.
If you happen to find a golden shoe, you can turn it in with the tag for a prize on prize claim day. Prizes are limited to one per person.
This event encourages community members, from toddlers to seniors, to get outside and get moving.
If you happen to not find a golden shoe, still head out to City Lake Park on prize claim day to enjoy a kite workshop sponsored by Albemarle Parks and Recreation.
Stanly County Partners in Health coalition’s mission is to improve the whole person health of Stanly County residents through cooperation, communication, and education.
