The Albemarle women’s basketball team went on the road Tuesday night with the opportunity to win the program’s first conference regular-season title since the 2018-19 season.

With Tuesday’s 79-39 win at Jay M. Robinson, Albemarle secured the regular-season title, the third conference title for head coach Eric Davis. Under his tenure, the team has played in six conference tourney title games, with this year’s tournament starting next week.

Sophomore guard Amari Baldwin led Albemarle (17-4, 8-1) with 23 points, hitting 10 of 12 shots from the field. She has 856 career points in two seasons with the varsity squad.

Nyleiah White added 22 points and six rebounds, while Jasmine Brown scored 11 points.

Albemarle jumped out to a 31-10 lead after one quarter and outscored Robinson (5-13, 2-7) in each quarter.

“I am very proud of the players,” Davis said. “They have sacrificed and worked extremely hard to accomplish it. (The title) is very well deserved.”

Albemarle goes on the road Friday night for the team’s final regular-season game of the year, traveling to Gray Stone.
