North Stanly High School went into lockdown Thursday after there was a report of a student allegedly in possession of a gun.

Stanly County Sheriff Jeff Crisco, in a brief phone interview with The Stanly News & Press, said his department, along with the school resource officer, “fully investigated” and found the report to be inaccurate. The lockdown has since ended.

By the time Crisco arrived on the scene Thursday morning, he said the school had already investigated and did not find a firearm.

“It was reported, it was fully investigated and it was found to be false,” Crisco said, noting the school took every precaution to make sure students were safe, including the lockdown.
