The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has released the brackets for the men’s and women’s basketball state playoffs.

Four teams from Stanly have qualified for the postseason.

Women’s Basketball

1A Playoffs

The Albemarle Bulldogs, champions of the Yadkin Valley Conference in the regular season and the tournament, earned a No. 4 seed in the 1A Western Region.

Albemarle (21-4) will host the No. 29 Mitchell Mountaineers (9-15) Tuesday night at 6. The Mountaineers have lost five of the team’s last six games while the Bulldogs enter the playoffs on a 12-game win streak.

2A Playoffs

North Stanly (20-4) earned a No. 9 seed in the 2A Western Region as the top 2A team from the YVC.

The Comets will host No. 24 Pine Lake Prep (9-15).The Pride finished fourth in their 1A/2A conference overall and have lost four of the team’s last five games.

North has won three of its last four games including two wins against Union Academy, who is in the 1A playoffs as a No. 16 seed.

Men’s Basketball

2A Playoffs

West Stanly, who finished tied for second among 2A teams in the regular season standings of the 2A/3A Rocky River Conference, qualified for the playoffs. The Colts (13-13) are a No. 30 seed and travel to No. 3 West Caldwell (24-2).

The Colts reached the semifinals of the RRC tournament and have won two of the team’s past three games.

West Caldwell enters the playoffs with a 16-game win streak.

1A Playoffs

Albemarle (14-12) was the top 1A finisher in the YVC and earned a No. 10 seed in the Western Region of the state playoffs.

The Bulldogs will host No. 23 Starmount (12-12) Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. The Rams finished fifth in the team’s conference and enters the playoffs on a three-game losing slide.

Albemarle has won three of its last four games, reaching the semifinals of the YVC tournament before losing in overtime to Mount Pleasant, 66-63.
